The sound control is on the bottom left corner. Volume bar was back in 50% of the cases, so I repeated this procedure once again and now everything is working again. everything works now, no need to restore. These basically fix common sound and hardware problems on Windows PCs. weblink

I have no idea why but this was awesome. Boom, working again. Switched it on and pressed the plus button continuously whilst swiping repeatedly with the credit card, the volume bar eventually came back !!! I have tried everything on the chromecast website, switching HDMI port restarting the tv, chromecast (even factory resetting it) and the router. I really really had to work at it!! Make sure none are muted and the volume setting is reasonable. Was this answer helpful?

What I did was take the back off your phone. Or you can navigate to the sound card through Device Manager and check there to see if the sound card is enabled and the driver is good.
